Local Different Store Online

The issue here comes down to shipping. It’s possible to get free online shipping if you buy enough stuff and go over $100. However at the local shop will likely give me a greater discount too.
A case could be made for time, fuel and maintenance, insurance for picking it up on my own. However $7 for the 40km ride would put me on the high end on of day insurance, mileage for fuel and yearly consumables. I really shouldn’t be
trying
so hard to justify
riding to pick this stuff up!
Also gave me the change to swing a leg over the new Streetfighter V4 (non S) on the floor; it’s a good fit. If it weren’t for Covid it might have been a real consideration. Maybe if I’m happy with how next year goes... I reallllly want to demo one, that’s for sure.

I love one of my local shops, they’re a 50 year old triumph and Suzuki dealer so there’s always neat stuff in the showroom and I’ve bought a good deal of gear there over the years too.

Oddly enough, an Amazon Prime driver just delivered this mere moments before I saw your post.
I sat on a Supersport last week and loved it. Unfortunately no Streetfighter or V2 in stock :(
You should get one next year, for science.

I find the same thing. I was bombing around the jackets and seeing hundreds of dollars off some really nice new Dainese that would definitely not be discounted online. The small shops seem to be good at undercutting online while being sustainable if they get a good customer
base, word still travels
.
I just really wanted an excuse to visit the gear peeps and fit the s’fighter. I used to think online was the way to go and my noob set I bought all online, but when 2nd shipping rings up that much? Nah!

I ran the C5 paste all last year but all the local shops don’t seem to stock it. I asked at the counter, but didn’t feel like ordering and going back so settled for the C4 [boom!]. I like the Motul products though, my bike has run the oil since the completion of break-in .
Yeah, I really want to.
I would have probably
this year had the world not gone to complete shit. There’s some career stuff I want to get done and I can still progress on the 650
more
.

I’m just imagining 50 years from now.
I
f everything i
s
delivered,
would there be 2 distinct groups with the
extro and intro -
verted
?
S
ome of us would go
Mach 5 to the door to see the delivery
person and talk forever
,
while others would
go hide in the bathroom for a few hours just to make sure they’re definitely
gone
.

Haha. Man, I hope not. I try to avoid the Amazons of the world since I don’t like how they treat their employees, crush smaller retailers and many, many other things about them, but dammit if they aren’t a lifeline for my mom. She’s in a smaller town without any big stores, so yeah.
Other than that, though, if we’re going to start recommending that more people work from home.......they’ll see. They’ll understand. Getting out of the house just to fart around a store is a welcome break.
